Been working

I've included some pics of the products of my fun playtime while out with Marlene, my sister, in California. There's distressed felt beads, friendly plastic, polymer clay: molds, faces, buttons, beads, etc. My sea turtle piece is in progress. Then I've included a pic of printed grape leaves on my very own dyed fabric. I'll be quilting that later and some extra leaves to make a 9 x 12" piece to hang in a local artwalk. Of course I didn't print just one but 3 altogether. How I love to print leaves. And lastly, another completed sunrise/beach wall hanging. That's the second of 3 completed. I love my beach scenes as well.

Back Home

Suffering from jet lag after a wonderful week with my sister, Marlene, in California. This wonderful person is the one who got me into quilting and into art quilting. We get together to play with all those new fun techniques we have read about in magazines: Quilting Arts and Cloth, and Paper, Scissors; and in all the books we seem to have to have. We do have fun! I'm still in a fog but I wish to list what we did: transfer painting, polymer clay, fabric paper, friendly plastic, felt beads, painted jeans jackets, paper collage, colormist leaves..... mind's a blank. Sounds like a funfilled week. It was. We laughed a lot as well. She's good for my soul.

Tomorrow I will get back to work in the studio - hopefully I'll clean that messy studio up some tonight!

Puttering around the studio

No pics today as I'm saving the series I did with the orangy/black discharged fabric for a winter exhibit. But I'm am real tickled with the product as I was with the whole process. The high of creating is exhilerating! Six 12" square pieces are now done. 3 stretched, the others waiting more stretcher bars - on order. I made several postcard size pieces as well. Working on some large pieces of discharged fabric I had discharged ages and ages ago. They are not coming along as well. 3 are up on the design wall for me to meditate on. I cleaned up a little bit of the studio. Still a very messy place. I'm getting ready for a fun, artsy week with my sister, Marlene, who lives in California. I'm excited! We have such a good time together!!!

So, for the next week I'll be out of touch. I should have lots to report a week from tomorrow.

Oh, the thrill of Creating

After doing hours of work for my local art association, I got started on my series using the discharged black fabric I created a while back. I did the framed one first, then designed the rest - all pinned and ready for machine quilting. I am on a high - the high of creating. These are the last pics of this series as I'm thinking of exhibiting the series at a local bank next winter. Want to do a larger piece for the local quilt show as well. Gotta get cracking! Ooff to art association board meeting.

Backin the Oceanside Studio

I actually relaxed on vacation. Read a lot! Ate and drank a lot. Had a great visit with sister/brother in-laws and their children. Couldn't asked for better weather! I wrote my thank you postcards to clients but that was it for my fiber work. Got to work in the studio soon after I returned home, though. First was to finish up the Leafy Turtles - did add some blue Shiva paintstick on the water part. Think I'll add more on the one I was a little heavy in parts. I like these and I don't. Huh?????? Gotta look at them some more.

I got really involved in my "Pirate Book" - a meandering book from Cloth Paper Scissors, Winter 2005, Issue 5. Again I'm enjoying the process. This pic is the work in progress. Want to embellish a bit more. I am pondering on how to display this piece - an entry to local art co-op challenge.

Pondering over my discharged black fabric of a while back - want to get moving on that pieces/pieces. Began creating more of the fabric reproductions note cards. I do enjoy the collaging.
