I know I've been quiet but I've been working

I've been working on this needlefelted beach scene which I cut in two 4-6er's. I'm still not quite pleased but will play with them some more. Maybe some machine/hand embroidery and some teeny shells and beads??????
I'm doing some sea turtles: these are small quilts sewn to the notecards. The verse is my own, I proud to say.

I've made several on these: the pieces are 4 x 6er's in a fabric frame.
I've collaged two 10 x 8's sea turle scenes which I will be machine quilting in the next day or so.
I'm getting ready for another outdoor show plus I want to visit a sea turtle rescue center which has a gift shop. Maybe, just maybe can get some of my work there.

Vacation and Home Creating

The posts for tonight are a bit backwards. Please pardon me! I'll learn this blog business some day.

Here are some pics of the patriotic postcards I've created and mailed to family today. I was experimenting on the collage style for a larger piece.

To my treasured sister, daughter and son - you'll have to guess which one is yours! I hope they arrive in time.

Shrimp Festival is upon us

I made a little quiltlet for my brother and his wife for their 40th wedding anniversary. It had to get in the mail. Then,I went madly about finishing up the small items for Shrimpfest: pirate postcards and seamaid pins. I printed off signs and business cards. I had to reorganize the quilts: some hang to protect the embellishments; others can be easily rolled up.

Husband, Jim, and I set up the tent and display racks this evening. Now for some sleep as tomorrow starts early.

Wish me luck!

Jazz Festival

I beat the sun this morning. I never seem to sleep well before a show. Adding the finishing touches to the music pieces took more time then I allotted so I was stressed. I managed to take some photos though not ideal ones. I finished 3 medium hangings called Jazz I, II, III. These I surface designed a batik using Shiva Paintsticks - rubbings and stencils. Appliqued the instruments and added yarn covered pipecleaners for the treble clef and buttons. An African Queen series, 8 x 10", similar style to a larger piece I entered in my local Art Association. I used some African fabrics my darling sister, Marlene, and another quilt friend gave me. I love the African doll idea and went for it. 6 quilted fabric postcards, 4 x 6" following the music theme. Some I put in fabric frames that JoAnn's used to sell and others I hung with a wire and beads. Think I'll look into shadow box frames in the future.

I better get going. My dear husband, Jim, will be ready to pack the car shortly. Can't forget the art! Nor the cooler, lights, canopy, lights, tons of stuff - we fill the minivan. With the show close by, we get to sleep in our own bed at night. I will give you an update on doing shows tomorrow morning - early!
